     You can celebrate anything. It's fun to pick something special, make family assignments, learn as much as you can about the topic, and have fun. When your celebration is a success, then you can celebrate celebrating.

     Today is Yell "Fudge" at the Cobras In North America Day. Tom and Ruth Roy of Lebanon, Pennsylvania (wellcat.com) believe cobras can be kept out of North America if everyone north of Panama goes outside today at noon and yells "Fudge!" Fudge, they say, makes cobras gag and skeedaddle.

     Today is National Leave the Office the Office Earlier Day, a day for pros to work harder, finish quicker, and get home early to spend more time with their families.

     Today is Love Conquers All Day.

     Today is National Chocolate Macaroon Day.

     Today is Pull Your Pants Up Day, a day for hip hop fans to see if they can keep their pants up for 24 continuous hours and enjoy having two free hands for a change.

     Today is Dr. Charles Drew Day, marking the birth of the physician who developed a system for storing blood plasma and organized the first blood bank in New York during World War II. He could not donate blood because he was black.

     Today is Jimmy Nichol Day, marking this date in 1964 when Jimmy became a substitute Beatle on tour for ten days while Ringo Starr was hospitalized.

     • Today is National Yo-Yo Day, marking the birthdate of businessman Donald F. Duncan Sr., who manufactured the popular "Duncan Yo-Yo" in the early 1900s.

     • Today is the anniversary of D-Day. In 1944, before dawn, 2,727 ships of every  description converged on Normandy, carrying 2-million tons of war materials, including tanks, armored cars, trucks, jeeps and half-tracks and 155,000 fighting men the first day.

     • Today is Helicopter Day. The first helicopter was tested in Berlin on this day in 1936.

     • Today is National Gardening Exercise Day.

     • Today is Memorial Day in South Korea, National Cow Day in Norway, and Flag Day in Sweden.

     Today is Betamax Day, marking Sony’s introduction of the first videocassette recorder on this date in 1975. It sold for $995 and eventually disappeared as consumers preferred VHS-format VCRs, introduced later.

       Today is International Clothes Line Week, a time to save energy by drying clothes outdoors.

       Today is Plymouth Day, the day the first Plymouth rolled off the assembly line in 1928.

      Today is National Trails Day, a day to celebrate our national trails and the volunteers who maintain them.

     Chief Seattle Day. The Lutheran Church commemorates Chief Seattle of the Duwamish, who was famous for his environmental statement that said the land belongs to no one and everyone.

     It’s National Chocolate Ice Cream Day.

     Today is Accordion Lovers Day.

     Today is Boone Day in Kentucky. On this day in 1769, Daniel Boone began exploring what would become the Bluegrass state.

     Today is Trial Technology Day.

     The annual Horseradish Festival begins today in Collinsville, Illinois. Highlighted are the Horseradish Races, with race cars made from horseradish roots.

     • Today is Audie Murphy Day, marking his birth in 1924. Audie Leon Murphy, son of poor Texas sharecroppers, rose to national fame as America's most decorated hero of World War II.  Among his 33 awards and decorations was the Medal of Honor. He also starred in 49 films, including the autobiographical "To Hell and Back" (See a clip) in 1955. The Audie Murphy Museum is in Greenville, Texas, down the road from his boyhood home near Farmersville.

      Today is National Almond Butter Crunch Day.

     Today is Elvis Presley Boulevard Day. The City of Memphis voted to name a 12-mile portion of the street that passes Graceland in honor of Elvis. Street signs disappeared immediately.
